Once upon a time she knew a person who could create pants from thin air. It'd taken a lot to forge a truce with him, but his magic was pretty wonder inducing. If martial arts could ever create pants from thin air, she'd love to see it and learn that art.
Often in the public eye, Natasha enjoyed the time that she had at her apartment. It wasn't surprising then that she was eager to leave the bar and sneak back to her place of comfort away from the world. "Glad you got what you wanted." She wasn't sure exactly what that was, but she could ask later.
Handing him a helmet, she let him ride on the back of her bike on the way home. Once there, she disarms the top-notch security put in place by Stark, and then opens up the door, allowing him in first. It's a cozy place, the fireplace is still lit and crackling by the couch. A TV sits in front of it, for easy viewing. There's a lounge chair near a window that looks perfect to curl up in with a book. Soft throws are tossed over the backs of all the chairs and couches. It's an open floor plan, so the kitchen sits open nearby with a hightop bar, chairs tucked underneath.
"Welcome to my humble abode. This is my hideaway from the world, and I rarely bring people here, so consider yourself lucky. "
She nudges him in the ribs playfully, and gives a soft tug to his long hair. "Please, make yourself at home. Can I get you something to drink? Water, Wine, Soda?"
Oh, SOMEONE's could, he was sure. After all, martial arts is just another way of looking at magic! Someday he'd have to get into that explanation with Nat, although dipping into the nature of 'consensus reality' and its ramifications is always a hell of a deep dive.
"Trust me, I know I'm lucky." He took in her place with casual curiosity -- he always felt like he should develop into the kind of wise master who could learn countless things about a person just by studying how they lived, and so forth, but the reality of him being capable of overlooking things like entire rooms just kept interfering with that goal. "I'd love a soda, whatever you've got."
And since she told him to make himself at home, he wasted no time in plopping on the couch by the fire, watching her move as he did so.
That would certainly be something he'd have to teach and explain to her. She'd love to sit for that lesson, possibly half-dressed with her legs across his lap as they sipped on beverages that may or may not get them inebriated. It might not be the smartest thing to get Morgan drunk, but Natasha lived for bad ideas. Plus, she enjoyed things that stimulated her mind and body all at once.
It had taken Natasha years of practice to learn how to study a person as quickly as she could and develop a sense about them upon a quick read. That had been one more thing she'd started in her childhood and never stopped training in. She wasn't a perfect study by any means, but she did alright. She was good enough to seduce a man for his secrets, or to force him to kidnap her in order to get him to spill his plan-- and better yet, to know which strategy to use on each man she went against.
Seeing a person's home could tell bits and pieces of a story. Nat's told enough because she decorated it herself. There wasn't a lot around, but it was cozy and warm. It was lived in. Her room told far more than the outer living space. Picking a cola from the fridge she brought it over to him, and settled it on the table there.
Nat held a beer and after kicking off her shoes, she set it next to him and waved her hand. "I'll be right back. I'm getting back into my loungewear. I wasn't dressed to start with, and I hope you don't mind me being as comfortable as I want in my own home. I can grab you a t-shirt if you want something better than a button up to go with the sweat pants."
If there's a problem. I'll take the blame. I'm pretty amazing at lying, even to the government.
I usually shop online, but you can certainly help. I don't mind a man's opinion one bit.
That Bridgerton one? I haven't even gotten started on it. I think the fact that everyone is fawning over it has made me stay away. I'd rather watch some sci-fi shit that that.
I don't know what ice cream your getting. I'd say we could go for champagne. It's great with ice cream, especially mint chocolate. Just nothing super dry, it needs a touch of sweet.
I guess we can let him choose, and I don't mind tossing guys at him either. He just needs to stick his toe in the water.
I might hold you up to this one day. You’re better at lying than I am, without a doubt.
All right. Yeah. I can do that. Let me know whenever you need my opinion.
Yeah, I think it’s the one. You afraid you’ll get the romantic bug too?. [He doesn’t think that can happen, but he can’t help teasing her about it.] But sci-fi sounds good to me. Much more my type of movies.
Champagne with a touch of sweet. Noted. How did you know mint chocolate’s my favourite? [Though he’s not exactly surprised she knows that about him, he wonders how she managed to find out.]
Yeah. Feels like we should just push him into the pool with how careful he is with just dipping his toes, though. But maybe I’m just hoping to be best man before I turn a hundred and ten.
There's not a lie detector test out there that can defeat me. Let me know when you need me and I'm all yours. [Is there a double entendre in there, he can decide. Perhaps.]
We can look at them tonight, and pick out a new piece. I do so like to spoil myself, and I haven't every had a man help me pick anything out yet. Banner and I never made it that far. He turned me down while I wore a bathrobe for him.
I may read the romantic stuff now and then, but it's usually for the hot sex. I promise. I'm not really into the dating scene. It doesn't work out for me. I guess I'll put 365 days away, and get out something more like Divergent, or Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. They're all playing. I believe.
I had no idea Mint Chip was your favorite. I was merely picking out my favorite. I guess we have excellent tastes.
I'd happily toss him into the pool with your help. You'll probably get married before him at this point.
You can bring the guns. I know I've always got mine on me.
[Laughing to herself, Nat takes her bike to the small bar that she tends to frequent because it's out of the way and no one bothers her there. Slipping into one of the last booths, she orders up a round of vodka shots and a beer for herself while she waits for Bucky to arrive.]
See, here you are complimenting me, and I have to be grateful and take it, but I feel very much the same way about you. I think there's some level that our hearts are allowed to care for another person and tell them that, even if that person doesn't feel like they're allowed to accept it.
You and I are both swimming in the same boat. At least somehow we're not alone.
It's alright if we screw it up. I already did it in the beginning, we worked past it.
Learning to communicate is all part of this whole friendship deal. You're alright Bucky.
I know. It sucks, but hey, we gotta live with what life gave us. We're here, we survived and now we gotta figure out the rest of the world. I'm glad to have at least one person who gets a little bit of it.
It's a real good thing I've got a few friends that are from Asgard that know I like strong drink. I can keep up with them for a few shots, but then I go back to my bottle of vodka or whatever I'm letting mess me up.
I've never tried drinking with me either. Hopefully my company is good when I'm drunk.
I highly doubt that. I imagine you have quite a bit from sitting there running through all the things you would have done differently in life and how you wish you could change things. I know that feeling, so I know what it eventually inspires.
A beach, boardwalk and amusement park? Can we get stuck at the top of the ferris wheel and kiss?
I don't think there would be any better sister. No one else can kick ass like you do, so how could I love anyone more? You're stuck with me forever too, remember that!
